Pharmacological action of Altana tablets

Altan is a complex preparation consisting of substances of polyphenol origin - derivatives of elagotannins, which include gallic and ellagic acids, alnitannins, ethyl gallate and others.

Altan is obtained from the cones of gray alder (Alnus incana L. Moench) and sticky alder (Alnus glutinosa) from the birch family, which have a gastroprotective and antiulcer effect. Hydrolyzed tannins (ellagic and gallic acids) in the composition of the drug provide antimicrobial activity against Salmonella enteridis, Staphylococcus aureus, Citrobacter diversus, Enterobacter aerogenes.

The anti-inflammatory effect of the drug is realized due to the content of flavonoids, which have antioxidant properties, prevent lipid peroxidation and block the formation of bioreactive oxygen species. Inhibition of enzymes in the arachidonic acid cycle leads to a decrease in the synthesis of inflammatory mediators. The reparative effect of the drug is provided by quercetin, rutin, catechin, leucoanthencian and other flavonoids, which stimulate protein synthesis and improve local blood supply. Altan does not affect the secretory functions of the stomach.
