DEPRIM (tablets)

from such a condition.
I treat pharmacological drugs that can help with respect. In this case, of course, a plant-based drug is preferable, although they usually have a weaker effect than chemically synthesized drugs. The drug Deprim contains flavonoids, essential oils and other components of plant origin. It is a mild antidepressant, calming and has a sedative effect. And at the same time it acts as a stimulant on the circulatory system, organs of the gastrointestinal tract and, in general, tones the entire body. The second positive effect of this drug is its anti-inflammatory effect. It can be used as an additional remedy in the treatment of inflammatory diseases. The components of Deprim have a detrimental effect on certain types of bacteria, in particular streptococci. But most often the drug is used to treat anxiety and restlessness, as well as to treat the stomach, intestines and other organs of the gastrointestinal tract. This drug can be used to treat adolescents; it is approved for children over 12 years of age. The teenage transition period is often fraught with problems, and herbal sedatives can sometimes come in handy. I took this drug when I was going through a difficult period due to some family circumstances. Everything went well, but for a long time after that I felt depressed and lethargic.

Then I decided to buy Deprim, and then depending on the circumstances. If necessary, you will have to consult a doctor. At the time of purchase at the pharmacy, I found out that there is also Deprim Forte with a stronger effect, but for now I decided to buy the regular one. The package bears a reassuring inscription: “improves mood.” The instructions contain dosage tips: you need to take 3 tablets a day, and the package contains 30 tablets. This means one is enough for 10 days. The drug costs 250 rubles, which is the average price for drugs of this type. It is produced by the pharmaceutical company Sandoz, which is located in Slovenia. The tablets are small, soft green in color, and this is understandable: its main herbal ingredient is the herb St. John's wort. The manufacturer emphasizes that long-term use may cause reproductive dysfunction - women who want to conceive a child need to remember this. The effect of the drug is felt. Maybe not as pronounced as we would like. And I can’t say whether this is a “placebo effect” or whether the components of the drug are working, but gradually I began to feel a little more carefree, the heaviness began to go away, and my sleep improved. At the same time, there is no feeling of foggy consciousness. I think this is a good drug. Although, of course, it will not suit everyone who is in a difficult situation, since its effect is individual. In addition, one should not discount the fact that this is still a herbal preparation, which means it does not have a very high degree of effectiveness.

Directions for use and doses

If you miss one dose of Deprim® forte:

- you should take the medicine as soon as possible;

- if it is time to take the next dose of the drug, do not take an additional dose to compensate for the missed dose;

- do not take 2 doses of the drug at the same time.

Interactions of the drug Deprim

Deprim should be taken with caution during simultaneous treatment with drugs containing digoxin, theophylline, as well as oral contraceptives, anticonvulsants and antidepressants, triptates. Preparations containing St. John's wort extract may increase the activity of certain enzymes that take part in the metabolism of the drug. These interactions may reduce the effectiveness of some drugs, such as warfarin, cyclosporine, theophylline, indinavir, digoxin, and birth control medications. Deprim can interact with drugs whose metabolism occurs with the participation of cytochrome enzymes, as well as if their transport occurs using p-glycoprotein. The effect on enzymes may continue after treatment is stopped. In this regard, interaction of Deprim with other drugs may occur for another two weeks after stopping its use. Due to the pharmacodynamic interactions of the drug Deprim with triptan derivatives (sumatriptan, naratriptan, zolmitriptan), antidepressants (especially selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, for example citalopram, fluvoxamine, fluoxetine, sertraline, paroxetine), the side effects of serotonin may increase.

Contraindications

The drug Persen is not prescribed or recommended for persons under 12 years of age. In addition, the product has a number of contraindications:

  • Diseases or pathologies of the liver;
  • Gastroesophageal reflux, heartburn (mint, which is part of the drug, is contraindicated);
  • Diseases or pathologies of the gallbladder;
  • Deficiency of sucrase, isomaltase, fructose intolerance;
  • Hypersensitivity to lactose, galactose intolerance.

It is not recommended to drive a car or perform other actions that require concentration, attentiveness and concentration while taking the drug. The fact is that the substances that make up Persen tablets affect and slow down psychomotor reactions. Persen is not compatible with alcohol.

Analogs

Persen and Afobazol

A close analogue of the drug Persen is Afobazol. Both remedies do an excellent job of relieving psychological stress, depression and improving the emotional background.

But there is a significant difference between them. The active ingredient of the drug Persen is herbal substances of natural origin, while synthetic substances are used in Afobazol tablets.

Persen gently relieves irritability and anxiety, and also improves sleep quality. Afobazole is a more extensive action drug and is prescribed after clinical studies. The drugs can be prescribed by the attending physician at the same time to treat somatic abnormalities in the patient. In this case, after the prescribed time, taking Afobazol tablets ends, and treatment continues with Persen tablets.

The drug Afobazol

Persen and Novo-Passit

Novo-Passit is also an analogue of the drug Persen. Not recommended for persons with chronic diseases and individual intolerance to components. Novo-Passit acts as gently as Persen, thanks to its plant base. Relieves anxiety, reduces psychological stress, and also removes manifestations of nervous tension.

Novo-Passit differs from the drug Persen in the presence of:

  • hawthorn, which affects the stabilization of blood circulation in the heart, lowers blood pressure and has a slight calming effect;
  • hops, which have a hypnotic effect and have a beneficial effect on the cardiovascular system;
  • elderberry, which is responsible for the diuretic and analgesic effects;
  • passionflower with a moderate effect of relieving irritability and anxiety.

Also contains mint, valerian and lemon balm. Guaifenesin, a substance contained in Novo-Passit, helps relieve anxiety in the patient. Novo-Passit is not recommended for women during pregnancy and for persons with intolerance to certain elements included in the drug.

Persen or Tenoten?

Another analogue of the drug is Tenoten. The action and effectiveness of these drugs are almost the same, but they differ in composition, which is important to pay attention to when choosing a particular product. Despite the similarity of indications and contraindications of these two drugs, the therapeutic effect of Persen tablets is much more pronounced than that of Tenoten. It takes much less time to complete the course of treatment.

Persen or Glycine?

Glycine is also an analogue of the drug Persen. But despite the similarity of indications, these two drugs cannot be interchangeable. The main difference between these two drugs is the composition and principle of their effect on the patient’s body.

Persen is a herbal medicine that has a calming effect due to the combination of certain plants. Plants can cause allergic reactions, skin rashes, and respiratory problems, all due to the concentration of essential oils. Glycine is an amino acid that is found in the body of every person, as well as in fish, spinach, pumpkin and legumes. The amino acid is least likely to cause intolerance and skin rashes.

Persen or Deprim?

Another analogue of the drug can be called Deprim. This is also a drug of plant origin, but its active ingredient is St. John's wort extract. The effect on the patient’s autonomic nervous system occurs due to hypericin and flavonoids contained in this plant.

Deprim increases the emotional background, improves mood and normalizes sleep. With its use, an increase in both physical and psycho-emotional activity is observed. Indicated for depressive disorders and sudden mood swings. Unlike Persen tablets, Deprim does not affect concentration and does not cause drowsiness. However, Persen is a more effective medicine for the treatment of nervous conditions, insomnia and irritability. Deprim is not prescribed for the above disorders.

An article with a detailed description of analogues can be read here, and general recommendations for dealing with stress can be found here.

Indications for use

Traditional medicine consists entirely of natural ingredients. The drug contains valerian root, mint and lemon balm leaves.

It has the following indications for use:

  • Nervous conditions (neuroses), which are often accompanied by agitation, anxiety, and sleepless nights. However, these symptoms do not require the use of potent drugs;
  • The period of time after stopping the use of potent drugs with a sedative effect;
  • Hypertension and cardiac pathologies (tachycardia);
  • Unreasonable restlessness and anxiety;
  • Suppression of psychosomatic manifestations as a result of periodic stress.

During pregnancy and lactation

The effectiveness and safety of the drug for women during pregnancy and lactation have not been studied. In this regard, it is not recommended to use the drug for treatment during these periods.

During the first trimester or during breastfeeding, it is possible to prescribe the drug Persen. But this is only possible if the potential risk to the health of the fetus or newborn is much less than the beneficial effect for the mother.
