Dentinox gel N gel 10g No. 1

Pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics

Dentinox is an effective drug that significantly facilitates teething in young children and reduces the likelihood of them developing potential complications.

The combination of an anti-inflammatory agent of plant origin, which is an extract of chamomile flowers , with small doses of local anesthetics lidocaine and macrogol lauryl ether (polidocanol 600) , acting in the area of peripheral nerve endings and provoking their reversible blocking, allows you to achieve a quick and long-lasting analgesic effect during teething in children.

In addition, in comparison with solutions for external use, the teething gel has a composition that can adhere well to the mucous membrane in the mouth for a long time, which in turn allows one to obtain a long-lasting therapeutic effect from its use.

The absence of sugars and preservatives as ingredients helps keep teeth in good condition and does not lead to their premature destruction. Sugar in Dentinox is replaced with xylitol and sorbitol , which do not provoke the development of caries .

Both dosage forms of the drug are used as external agents. This and the use of active, but at the same time safe for the child’s body, concentration of active components allows us to consider the pharmacokinetic parameters of the drug to be insignificant.

Composition of the drug and its effect

As mentioned earlier, Dentinox gel contains substances such as lidocaine, chamomile extract and lauromacrogol-600. These are the active components of both forms of the drug. Excipients are represented mainly by sorbitol, xylitol, propylene glycol, carbomer (974 R), sodium hydroxide 10% solution, polysorbate 20, sodium edetate, sodium saccharin, menthol (levomenthol), purified water.

Lidocaine has an anesthetic effect on the teething areas. There is a slight freezing effect, which allows you to quickly relieve even intense pain in a baby. Together with lauromacrogol-600 it shows not only high efficiency, but also a prolonged effect.

Chamomile extract has antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory effects. This is a natural component of the drug that has a gentle effect on the mucous membranes. Its action is quite prolonged.

The component lauromacrogol 600 has a local anesthetic effect. This substance is well distributed over the surface of the oral mucosa. This action helps to provide a long-lasting therapeutic effect. Helps enhance the analgesic activity of lidocaine without developing negative effects.

It is prohibited to use the drug outside the oral cavity due to the ineffectiveness and lack of appropriate instructions that Dentinox contains.

The result of the complex effect is painless eruption of the first incisors and the molars that follow them. Dentinox dental gel helps prevent gum irritation, as well as inflammation of the oral mucosa. That is, it helps to prevent stomatitis and severe pain in the aftermath.

Traditionally, the medication is used to effectively stimulate tooth growth, as well as to prevent dental pathologies. Dentinox contains sweeteners that do not cause caries, but at the same time help facilitate the application process. Accordingly, the drug does not contribute to the destruction of enamel. Also, the product does not contain preservatives, and therefore is completely safe for the child’s body.

Contraindications

A contraindication to the use of Dentinox is increased individual sensitivity to any of its components. According to additional information provided by the manufacturer of the drug in order to improve the safety of its use, this may be, for example:

  • intolerance to chamomile or other asteraceae;
  • lidocaine or local anesthetics similar in their action ( amide-type anesthetics );
  • sorbitol (a food additive with a sweetish taste);
  • other substances included in the drug.

It is also not recommended to use the gel and solution if there is damage in the oral cavity.

pharmachologic effect

Dentinox® Gel N is a combined preparation that, along with a herbal component (tincture of chamomile flowers), which has an anti-inflammatory and soothing effect on gum irritation, also contains local anesthetics in a concentration approved for use in children and infants. Lidocaine provides a quick analgesic, but short-term effect, which occurs a few minutes after application of the drug to the gums. The analgesic effect of polidocanol occurs later, but is longer lasting. Together they have a quick and long-lasting effect at low dosages. The use of the drug ensures the eruption of the first teeth, all milk teeth, as well as molars without pain and complications. Dentinox ® Gel N prevents the occurrence of local inflammatory reactions, allows you to largely avoid gum irritation and the formation of excessive salivation. The xylitol and sorbitol contained in the preparation do not cause dental caries. Dentinox® Gel N does not contain preservatives or sugar.

Indications for use

It is used for short-term relief of pain during the eruption of the first teeth, all milk and molars, as well as to prevent inflammation and irritation of the gums.

Directions for use and doses

Using a clean finger or a clean cotton swab, apply a pea-sized drop of Dentinox ® Gel N to the area of the gum where the tooth is emerging and rub in lightly. Repeat the procedure 2-3 times a day, especially after meals and before bed. If necessary, use the drug during the entire period of eruption of baby teeth, and later molars.

Use during pregnancy and lactation

Since this drug is used exclusively to relieve pain during the first teething in children, there is no information on the use of this drug during pregnancy and lactation.

Precautionary measures

Contraindicated in patients with rare hereditary fructose intolerance. Avoid getting the drug in your eyes! Dentinox® Gel N is applied locally to the gums. When applied to the oral mucosa, local irritation is possible due to the presence of propylene glycol. This drug contains a small amount of ethanol (alcohol), less than 100 mg per dose, which is due to the active component of the drug - chamomile tincture, which is produced by extraction with ethanol. Caution should be exercised when using Dentinox® Gel N to patients with damage to the mucous membrane in the area of application, if it is larger in size than is usually observed during teething, since in this case increased systemic absorption is possible.

Reviews about Dentinox

Reviews of Dentinox gel allow us to conclude that in the vast majority of cases, the drug is well tolerated by children and does not cause the development of unwanted side effects. However, if a child has an individual intolerance to any of its components, the possibility of allergic reactions cannot be ruled out, the severity of which may vary depending on the characteristics of a particular organism. In this case, immediate cessation of use of Dentinox N gel and consultation with a doctor is required.

Reviews of Dentinox for teething, left on various forums by mothers of small children, also indicate that the product is effective, acts quickly, has a pleasant taste (which is important when it comes to treating a child) and is used quite economically. For this reason, it is recommended by approximately 95 out of 100% of moms. As a disadvantage of the drug, some of them noted only the relative short duration of its action.

Indications for use of the drug

Primarily due to the composition, it has an antiseptic and anesthetic effect. The drug also has an anti-inflammatory effect. It acts exclusively locally and is used strictly according to the instructions. Thanks to the composition, it significantly facilitates the process of teething of primary and primary teeth, as well as incisors. Accordingly, the drug is used in infants and children of the first year of life during teething in order to simultaneously prevent inflammatory processes and pain.

The drug is safe in its composition and does not cause allergic or other negative reactions. No side effects were identified in the instructions or during the research process. The gel can be stored for up to 5 years, but the solution can be stored for only 3. But after opening the package, the shelf life is reduced to 1 year, which in principle is quite sufficient for a specific drug and the age of the child.

In simpler terms, the medication is used mainly for the prevention of inflammatory-infectious pathologies, increases local immunity thanks to chamomile extract, and also has a time-limited analgesic effect. Dentinox gel helps eliminate irritation by acting on nerve receptors in the soft tissues of the gums. This, in turn, improves the overall well-being of the baby.
