Indications for use of Iberogast

There is a whole list of indications for taking a medicine like Iberogast, which is what makes it so popular. Since the main effect is on the gastrointestinal tract, the main indications can be noted:

  1. Therapy of functional disorders in the stomach, intestines, including irritation in the intestines.
  2. Complex types of therapy for diseases such as gastritis, peptic ulcers of the stomach and intestines.
  3. Non-periodic use of the medicine can improve appetite and relieve symptoms of overeating (belching, nausea).
  4. Combating stool disorders - constipation or diarrhea.

It is possible to achieve a therapeutic effect for such a large number of diseases thanks to the selective action of Iberogast in different parts of the stomach and intestines. For example, combating decreased motor activity of the stomach can relieve a person from painful constipation.

The effect of Iberogast on gastritis

The main culprit of gastritis and gastric ulcers is the bacterium H. pylori, which destroys the walls of the main organ of the gastrointestinal tract - the stomach. Due to the fact that the product contains extracts of chamomile, peppermint, cumin fruits, Iberogast has an antimicrobial effect.

Once in the body, the drug reduces the growth of bacteria, stopping the progression of the disease. Here we can highlight the main advantage of the drug - the possibility of use when other drugs are contraindicated.

Action for hemorrhoids and heartburn

Heartburn can appear both in pathological conditions in the stomach and in a healthy person. It largely depends on what kind of food a person takes. Heartburn can be affected by alcohol intake, stress, and excess weight.

For heartburn, taking Iberogast is also indicated, since after a dose of the medicine, the smooth muscles in the stomach relax and toning occurs. This leads to the fact that intra-abdominal pressure decreases and undigested stomach contents stop entering the esophagus.

But for hemorrhoids, Iberogast is indicated only during a course of treatment with other drugs. Thanks to taking Iberogast, the patient can regulate his bowel movements, that is, eliminate dangerous constipation, which in turn aggravates the course of hemorrhoids. A doctor will help you choose a course of treatment.

Side effect

The frequency of occurrence of adverse reactions according to the MedDRA classification is determined as follows: very often (≥ 1/10); often (≥ 1/100, ˂ 1/10); uncommon (≥ 1/1000, ˂ 1/100); rare (≥ 1/10000, ˂ 1/1000); very rare (˂ 1/10000) and the frequency is unknown (the frequency cannot be determined from the available data). Immune system disorders Very rare: allergic reactions (itching, skin rash, shortness of breath). Liver and biliary tract disorders Frequency unknown: isolated reports of liver damage, acute liver failure, hepatitis, elevated transaminase and bilirubin levels have been received. If you experience the side effects listed in the instructions, or they get worse, or you notice any other side effects not listed in the instructions, stop taking the drug and tell your doctor.

Release form and composition of the drug Iberogast

The drug Iberogast appeared in our country relatively recently, but has already proven itself as a strong and safe remedy for pathologies associated with the gastrointestinal tract (GIT).

Iberogast for constipation

Overeating, eating excessively fatty, unhealthy foods, stress and many other factors cause an unpleasant phenomenon for a person - constipation. Constipation is often combined with flatulence, nausea, and a feeling of fullness in the stomach. Taking strong laxatives is not suitable for everyone; in such cases, Iberogast himself comes to the rescue. When constipation occurs, the following components begin to work:

  • cumin – relieves spasms, improves the process of assimilation of food, which provokes flatulence;
  • angelica root – improves the digestion process, stimulates secretion;
  • peppermint leaves, lemon balm - have a calming effect, prevent bloating;
  • celandine – causes improvement in motor skills.

The drug has a beneficial effect on intestinal peristalsis. Taking the drug eliminates pathological spasms in smooth muscles, stimulates its contraction, which allows you to empty the intestines.

A course of taking Iberogast has a positive effect on the functioning of the intestine, restoring its contraction rhythm. Anti-inflammatory effect for gastritis and ulcers, reduces acid release, relieves irritable bowel syndrome, which also eliminates constipation and flatulence.
