Pharmacodynamics

Caffetin® light is a combined drug with analgesic action.

Paracetamol and propyphenazone have analgesic and antipyretic effects. The mechanism of action is associated with inhibition of PG synthesis. The presence of caffeine in combined analgesics increases the absorption of the components.

The drug ensures the achievement of a satisfactory analgesic effect, and the use of small quantities of its constituent components reduces the risk of side effects.

pharmachologic effect

Caffetin® sk is a combined drug with analgesic action.
Paracetamol and propyphenazone have analgesic and antipyretic effects. The mechanism of action is associated with inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis. The presence of caffeine in combined analgesics increases the absorption of the components.

The combination of the drug ensures a satisfactory analgesic effect, and the use of small quantities of the components reduces the risk of side effects.

Pharmacokinetics

The pharmacokinetic characteristics of combination drugs are not significant, since the drugs are not intended for the treatment of chronic diseases and are therefore used as needed or in short courses.

All active components of the drug Caffetin® sk have a similar pharmacokinetic profile, which justifies the rationality of the analgesic combination. They are absorbed very quickly and their maximum plasma concentrations are reached 30-60 minutes after administration.

Metabolized in the liver and excreted in the urine.

During the biotransformation of paracetamol, a small amount of the toxic metabolite N-acetil-p-benzo-quinoneimine is created, which can cause liver damage.

Indications

Pain syndrome of moderate severity of various origins: headache and toothache, migraine, neuralgia, myalgia, post-traumatic pain, arthralgia, algodismenorrhea, fever due to influenza infections.

Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding

Caffetin® is contraindicated for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Contraindications

  • Increased individual sensitivity to the components of the drug;
  • liver and/or kidney failure;
  • glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency;
  • leukopenia;
  • hematopoietic disorder;
  • increased excitability;
  • insomnia;
  • angina pectoris against the background of coronary sclerosis;
  • pregnancy and lactation;
  • children's age (up to 7 years).

Side effects

Leukopenia, agranulocytosis, nausea, gastralgia, vomiting, increased activity of liver transaminases, increased excitability (especially in children), allergic reactions (skin rash, Quincke's edema, itching, urticaria).

Interaction

The combination of the drug with barbiturates, antiepileptic drugs, zidovudine, rifampicin and alcohol-containing drinks should be avoided (the risk of hepatotoxic effect increases).

Under the influence of paracetamol, the elimination time of chloramphenicol increases 5 times. Metoclopramide accelerates the absorption of paracetamol. When taken repeatedly, paracetamol may enhance the effect of anticoagulants (dicoumarin derivatives).

Caffeine accelerates the absorption of ergotamine.

How to take, course of administration and dosage

Orally, adults - 1 tablet 3-4 times a day. For severe pain, it is recommended to take 2 tablets at once. The maximum daily dose is 6 tablets.

Children over 7 years old are prescribed 1/4-1/2 tablets, 1-4 times a day.

The duration of taking the drug is no more than 5 days. Increasing the daily dose of the drug or the duration of treatment is possible only after consulting a doctor.

Overdose

Symptoms: nausea, vomiting, ringing in the ears, stomach pain, sweating, pale skin, tachycardia. If you suspect poisoning, you should immediately seek medical help.

Assistance: the victim should undergo gastric lavage and be prescribed adsorbents (activated carbon).

Special instructions

With prolonged use of the drug, monitoring of peripheral blood and the functional state of the liver is necessary. During treatment, you should avoid drinking alcoholic beverages (increased risk of gastrointestinal bleeding).

Excessive consumption of caffeine-containing products (coffee, tea) while taking the drug may cause overdose symptoms. Taking the drug may make it difficult to establish a diagnosis for acute abdominal pain syndrome.

Patients suffering from bronchial asthma and hay fever have an increased risk of developing hypersensitivity reactions.

Carefully. Elderly, childhood, glaucoma.

Influence on the ability to drive vehicles and machinery. Caffetin® sk does not affect the ability to drive vehicles and machines.

Caffetin light

Caffetin Light is a combined three-component drug for the elimination of mild to moderate pain. The therapeutic effect of the drug is determined by the pharmacological effects of its individual components. Paracetamol (also known as acetaminophen) and propyphenazone have analgesic and antipyretic effects due to the suppression of the production of nociceptive prostaglandins, which also have pyretic activity. Caffeine increases the degree of absorption of other active ingredients. The combination of active components of the drug provides a satisfactory analgesic effect, while the use of smaller quantities in the drug (as opposed to their use as separate drugs in monotherapy) reduces the risk of developing undesirable side reactions. The pharmacokinetic parameters of combined drugs can be neglected, because such drugs are not used in long-term drug courses in the treatment of chronic diseases and for this reason are used, if necessary, as part of short courses of pharmacotherapy. All active ingredients of the drug have similar pharmacokinetic characteristics, which confirms the feasibility and correctness of the selection of components in combination. All active ingredients are rapidly absorbed and reach peak blood concentrations within 30-60 minutes after use. Their elimination from the body is carried out mainly by the kidneys. During metabolic transformations of paracetamol, a small amount of the potentially toxic agent N-acetyl-P-benzo-quinone imine is formed, which can adversely affect the liver if recommended doses of the drug are exceeded. Caffetin Light is used for cephalalgia (including migraine), dentalgia, peripheral nerve lesions, characterized by attacks of pain in the area of innervation of a nerve, muscle pain, traumatic pain, joint pain in the absence of objective symptoms of joint damage, painful menstruation, febrile body temperature with influenza and influenza-like conditions.

Single dose – from ¼ to 1 tablet. In case of severe pain, it is allowed to take 2 tablets at a time. The frequency of administration is up to 4 times a day, while the daily dose should not exceed 6 tablets. The maximum duration of the medication course is 5 days. Exceeding the recommended dose/duration of pharmacotherapy is allowed only in consultation with the doctor. Possible undesirable side reactions: a decrease in the number of leukocytes, a painful sensation in the epigastric region, chest, preceding vomiting (as well as vomiting itself), pain in the stomach with convulsive contractions of its walls, increased excitability (typical for pediatric patients), skin rashes, angioedema, urticaria, a sensation of painful tickling irritation of the skin, causing the need to scratch the irritated area. The drug is not used in cases of individual intolerance to any of its components (including auxiliary ones), insufficiency of liver and/or kidney function, pathologically reduced levels of leukocytes, hematopoiesis disorders, increased excitability, painful lack of sleep, angina pectoris against the background of atherosclerotic disorders in the myocardial vessels , during pregnancy and breastfeeding. In pediatrics, the drug is used when the patient reaches the age of seven. In elderly patients, the drug is used with extreme caution. During the medication course, you should refrain from consuming alcoholic beverages (to avoid bleeding into the gastrointestinal tract), and also limit the consumption of caffeine-containing drinks (tea, coffee) to avoid caffeine overdose. Taking Caffetin Light can mask the acute phase of abdominal pain syndrome and complicate its diagnosis.
