Dry skin, scratches and abrasions, redness and irritation - these symptoms appear to each of us from time to time. When choosing drugs for their treatment, you can encounter problems: some drugs dry out even more, others fight inflammation, but are not suitable for long-term use.
Bepanten guarantees quick and safe elimination of all unpleasant manifestations. The drug is available in several dosage forms, and everyone can choose the ideal one for themselves.
How does Bepanten work?
Dexpanthenol, on the basis of which the drug works, is provitamin B5. This substance easily enters the skin, where it is transformed into pantothenic acid.
In turn, thanks to pantothenic acid, skin healing processes occur, cellular metabolism is normalized, and collagen fibers are strengthened. Due to these effects, the cream and other forms of the drug promote active hydration and regeneration of the skin.
Dexpanthenol is a substance related to skin cells, so Bepanten can be used on any area of the skin. In addition, the product can be used by children from birth.
bepanthen nipple ointment
I needed:
— A bottle of water + did not throw away the empty bottle and periodically refilled it in the cooler
— Fest mesh panties — 2 packs (they will not be superfluous, since it is recommended to wear such panties until the end of postpartum bleeding)
— Urological pads — 1 large package or 2 medium ones (also recommended until the end of postpartum bleeding) In the case when the pads suddenly run out, you can use baby diapers for a short time
— Weleda intimate area oil — helped when the stitches were pulling
— Toothbrush and toothpaste
— Deodorant
— Wash product (can be for children) — it can also be used for washing hands
— A little shampoo and shower gel (at first it will be difficult to find time to wash. Everything will come in handy before discharge)
— Hairdryer (also mainly for styling before discharge)
— Cleanser (refreshes the face after sleepless nights)
- Liquid soap. Solid soap is not convenient to use, liquid soap is more convenient
— Bepanten ointment 100 ml — you don’t have to wash it off before feeding, it perfectly restored wounded nipples. Purelan didn't help. You can also smear your hands with Bepanthen
— Large terry towel (there were not enough hospital towels)
— The postpartum bandage was not useful - it was uncomfortable and, in general, there was absolutely no time for it
— Toilet paper (1-2 rolls)
— Paper napkins
- Comb
- Scrunchy
— Scissors or nail file (if necessary)
— Breast pump (take it and don’t doubt that when the milk comes in, you will need to pump it urgently)
— Top for feeding Fest — with a large margin in size
— Lovular lactation inserts — 10 pieces (milk will stain the shirt)
— Garbage bags—several for your own convenience
— Notepad and pen for writing
— Replaceable socks
- Cup
— Cutlery (spoons, forks)
— Tea bags
- Sugar
— Jubilee cakes and cookies (snack after feeding — a must!)
— Marshmallows or marshmallows (sweets are necessary to maintain blood glucose)
— Baked goods (stale)
You can then ask your relatives to bring fruit (bananas, green or yellow apples, pears)
List of things for the child:
— Goon diapers for newborns (at the rate of approximately 10-12 pieces per day)
— Wet wipes (4 packs) — meconium could only be wiped off with wipes. Washing didn't help. It is better to place napkins on the radiator before use (warm ones will not disturb the child)
— A gentle cleanser — it can be used as liquid soap and for intimate hygiene
— I didn’t use diaper cream in the maternity hospital, diaper rash didn’t have time to form. As a last resort, there was Bepanten ointment.
- Aquamaris for children - if the air in the room is dry. If necessary, you can apply it to yourself.
Indications
Bepanten is used in the following cases:
- Prevention and treatment of diaper rash in infants, including newborns;
- Nipple care for nursing mothers. Treatment of cracked nipples, which often appear during lactation;
- Healing of small wounds, abrasions, scratches;
- Elimination of skin irritation and some allergic manifestations. Thus, the product can be used for food allergies in children, as well as as part of a complex treatment of atopic dermatitis;
- Treatment of various burns (including sunburn) of mild severity.
Bepanten can be used to treat the area of bedsores. The product is also used to care for transplanted skin. Finally, the drug can simply be used as a cosmetic product for the care of dry skin prone to irritation.
BEPANTHEN PLUS (cream)
and hand-wringing)
Further, the ointment came in handy when caring for an infant; it sometimes removed redness from the diaper, or rather healed and stimulated skin regeneration, some scratches, abrasions, etc. In general, I like the ointment better; it penetrates deeper into the layers of the epidermis than the same Bepanten cream. Accordingly, it copes well with more serious skin injuries: cracks, deep cuts, abrasions, scratches. The cream is good for milder injuries.
Bepanten plus, like regular Bepanten, has a homogeneous structure that is easy to apply. The only difference is that the antiseptic chlorhexidine dihydrochloride is added. I have great respect for chlorhexidine, especially when it comes to treating children’s skin; it works great on par with alcohol-containing antiseptics, but it doesn’t sting the skin.
And this cream will come in handy in a home medicine cabinet, especially in a nursery, due to its wide range of applications (abrasions, scratches, scratches and even burns). This cream can also be used after cosmetic procedures, for example, after hair removal and various peelings. In general, a universal remedy that can be used during safety and breastfeeding. The cream is convenient and easy to apply, rinses off easily, and does not stain hands or clothes.
The product is suitable not only for childhood sores, but will be an excellent helper for such serious skin conditions as burns, dermatitis, pyoderma, bedsores, trophic ulcers, cracked nipples, as well as for secondary infected eczema and neurodermatitis. More detailed indications and contraindications are in the instructions. To get acquainted with it in more detail, just click on the photo and it will open in a new window in better quality.
Another plus is the long shelf life.
I liked the cream, it did an excellent job with some of the child’s skin damage: scratches, sores, scratches, it quickly healed the skin and prevented infection. But I would not recommend using it on an ongoing basis, only in case of skin damage and possible infection. And so, we use it as a daily baby cream. Weleda baby nourishing cream with calendula with an excellent safe and natural composition.
I would recommend this cream, like any Bepanten, just for a certain damage to the skin, a specific form is suitable, for prevention - an emulsion, for deep damage - an ointment, for superficial damage - a cream...
Well, Bepanten Plus is for the really lazy ones who are too lazy to treat with an antiseptic once again. Be healthy! I hope the review was interesting and useful to you, if so, please leave an o or look at my other reviews, I will be pleased to know that my efforts are not in vain
How to use Bepanten
The drug in the form of cream and ointment is used as follows:
- For preventive care of the skin of infants, as well as the treatment of diaper rash, the product is applied in a thin layer each time diapers are changed.
- Treatment of various skin lesions (wounds, abrasions, burns, areas of irritation) involves applying a thin layer of ointment several times a day throughout the healing period.
- Nursing mothers who are faced with the problem of cracked nipples should apply ointment every time after feeding the baby. Before the next feeding, wash off any remaining product with warm water. Bepanthen cream can be used in a similar way to prevent the formation of cracks.
The drug is not addictive and can lead to an overdose. Therefore, it can be used for as long as desired.
Before choosing the form of the drug: cream, ointment or lotion, it is advisable to consult a dermatologist. Ointment is often used for medicinal purposes, and cream is used for prevention. The lotion is best used to care for skin prone to dryness and irritation.
Bepanten Plus
Bepanten plus (chlorhexidine + dexpanthenol) is a tissue regeneration stimulator for topical use. It has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and reparative effects. The pharmacological effect of the drug is determined by the effects of its constituent components. Chlorhexidine is an antiseptic that is active against gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms that live on the skin or get on them due to contamination of the wound surface. In this case, dexpanthenol acts as a prodrug: penetrating the skin, it is converted into pantothenic acid, which, in turn, is involved both in the proliferation of skin cells and in their restoration after damaging effects. Bepanten plus eliminates pain due to its local hypothermic effect. When applied to a wound surface, it protects it from infection, promoting rapid healing. The texture of the cream ensures its easy application and removal from the skin. Does not leave greasy stains on clothes and does not stick. Indicated for small household wounds to reduce the risk of infection (minor abrasions and scratches, shallow incised wounds, excoriations, cracks, burns with a small area of damage), superficial skin infections, cracked nipples during lactation, long-term non-healing leg ulcers, necrosis of soft tissues as a result constant pressure (bedsores), surgical wounds. Frequency of application: depending on the situation, the cream can be applied several times a day. Conditions for application: clean wound surface. Bepanten plus can be applied under an occlusive dressing. Possible side effects: allergic reactions. Bepanten Plus is not intended for application to the ears and deep wounds with heavy microbial contamination.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding are not contraindications to the use of the drug. After applying the cream, you should wash your hands thoroughly to avoid getting it in your eyes. Bepanten plus is not intended for oral administration. Wounds with a large area and depth of damage, bites, tissue damage, in which the depth of the wound channel exceeds the width of the entrance hole, require medical intervention to avoid the development of tetanus. If, despite regular use of Bepanten Plus, the wounds do not heal within 10-14 days, or if there is severe hyperemia in the area of the wound edges, swelling, severe pain, or increased body temperature, you should seek medical advice. An overdose of Bepanten Plus is impossible if the rules for its application are followed. The drug is not recommended for use simultaneously with other antiseptics. Bepanten plus is effective in the treatment of atopic dermatitis in children. In clinical studies, after seven days, a decrease in the titer of Staphylococcus aureus to 103 was recorded, and after two weeks, most patients experienced elimination of skin itching. As auxiliary components, Bepanten Plus includes lanolin, which in its composition is similar to the natural secretion product of the sebaceous glands - sebum. Lanolin creates a protective film on the damaged skin surface, thereby protecting it from aggressive environmental factors and dehydration. Bepanten Plus does not contain dyes, fragrances, flavors or preservatives. The use of this drug in all cases helps to suppress inflammation, skin regeneration, improve blood circulation in the capillary bed, and neutralize microorganisms.
