Description

Sage is known primarily for its active participation in the fight against microorganisms and inflammatory processes. Cineole is a component of sage essential oil, has phytoncidal properties and is involved in the neutralization of bacteria. Sage also has antiseptic properties due to the presence of salvin, a plant antibiotic. In addition, the use of sage extract helps reduce inflammation and alleviate discomfort in the throat. It contains so-called tannins.

Thanks to them, the mucous membranes are protected from irritation and further damage. The presence of flavonoids in the composition helps to reduce the permeability of cell membranes, walls of blood and lymphatic vessels.

Marshmallow contains specific substances - polysaccharides, due to which it is used as a remedy that helps reduce inflammation, relieve cough, and stimulate protective immune mechanisms.

Plantain has antiseptic and antimicrobial properties. In addition, it helps reduce the allergic reaction to infectious agents and thin the sputum. Participates in tissue regeneration and restoration of the mucous membranes of the respiratory tract due to its anti-inflammatory properties.

Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) is an antioxidant that protects cell membranes from the damaging effects of free radicals during the development of inflammation. A sufficient amount of vitamin C in the body is necessary to provide effective immune protection against infections. It stimulates the functioning of the immune system at the cellular level, activating specific cells that are the main assistants in the healing process. Ascorbic acid also acts as an antiviral component that increases the amount of interferon. Vitamin C is not synthesized in the body, so it must come from outside.

A specially selected substance - cetylpyridine chloride - destroys infectious agents.

Menthol cools and has a mild local anesthetic effect. Ascorbic acid mobilizes the body's defenses to fight infection, and also normalizes capillary permeability, which is often impaired during inflammatory processes.

Indications for use

Various diseases of the oral cavity, throat and upper respiratory tract, which are manifested by sore throat, hoarseness, dry irritable cough, inflammation of the gums and oral mucosa: sore throat, pharyngitis, laryngitis, bronchitis, stomatitis, gingivitis.

Mode of application

Slowly dissolve in the mouth:

- adults - 1 tablet every 2 - 3 hours (daily dose 6-8 tablets);

- children from 10 to 15 years old - ½ - 1 tablet every 3 - 4 hours (daily dose 4 - 5 tablets);

- children from 5 to 10 years old - ½ - ½ tablets every 3 - 4 hours (daily dose 2 - 3 tablets).

The indicated doses should not be exceeded.

Pharmacological properties

A combined preparation containing a complex of biologically active substances. It has anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, mucolytic effects. Has astringent properties.

Pharmacokinetics

The drug contains various biologically active substances; pharmacokinetic studies have not been conducted.

Indications for use

In the complex treatment of inflammatory diseases of the oral cavity and pharynx (stomatitis, gingivitis, tonsillitis, pharyngitis).

Contraindications

Increased individual sensitivity to the components of the drug. With caution: Due to the content of ascorbic acid, prescribe with caution in the following conditions: hyperoxaluria, urolithiasis, renal failure, hemochromatosis, thalassemia, polycythemia, leukemia, sideroblastic anemia, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency, sickle cell anemia, progressive malignant diseases, increased blood clotting, thrombosis, tendency to thrombosis, thrombophlebitis, diabetes mellitus and conditions accompanied by high blood sugar.

Directions for use and doses

Locally. Keep in mouth until completely absorbed, without chewing. Adults: 6 tablets per day at intervals of 2 hours. The usual course of treatment is 5-7 days. The duration of the course of treatment is determined by the doctor, taking into account the characteristics of the disease, the achieved effect and tolerability of the drug.

Side effect

Allergic reactions are possible. Due to the content of ascorbic acid, the development of gastrointestinal disorders (heartburn, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting), frequent urination (pollakiuria), damage to the glomerular apparatus of the kidneys, crystalluria, formation of urate and/or oxalate stones in the kidneys and urinary tract, allergic reactions is possible. (skin rash, skin hyperemia), thrombocytosis, hyperprothrombinemia, hyperglycemia, glycosuria. If any adverse reactions occur, including those not listed in this instruction, you should stop using the drug and consult a doctor.

Overdose

An overdose when ingesting more than 15 g of sage leaves can be manifested by a feeling of heat, the development of tachycardia, dizziness and epileptic convulsions. If symptoms of overdose occur, stop using the drug and consult a doctor. Treatment is symptomatic.

Interaction with other drugs

Taking salvia preparations may interfere with the effects of medications that act through GABA receptors (eg, barbiturates, benzodiazepines). Concomitant use with these drugs is not recommended. Sage preparations can interact with hypoglycemic and anticonvulsants, and enhance the sedative effect of other drugs and alcohol. This medicine may affect the absorption of iron and other minerals. The drug is not recommended for use simultaneously with other drugs containing ascorbic acid.

Precautionary measures

It is not recommended to use the drug for more than 1 week. Due to the sorbitol content, the drug should not be taken by patients with congenital fructose intolerance. Due to the sorbitol content, when taking more than 9 tablets per day, it may have a mild laxative effect. Due to the aspartame content, the drug should not be taken by patients with phenylketonuria. Use during pregnancy and lactation
