Proposol-N oral spray 20g No. 1

A local medicinal product based on natural ingredients quickly eliminates signs of inflammation of the mucous membrane in throat diseases and alleviates the general condition. The drug is well tolerated by most patients, does not cause addiction or withdrawal symptoms, and can be purchased in pharmacies at reasonable prices.

Pharmacodynamics

Propolis has a powerful antimicrobial or antiviral effect, to which, unlike antibiotics, addiction does not develop. The flavonoids contained in propolis block enzymes involved in the production of prostaglandins, which cause pain and fever (analgesic effect). Propolis promotes regeneration and epithelization, ensuring rapid tissue restoration, stimulates the production of interferons and the activity of some immunocompetent cells. Thanks to the fine spray, it penetrates much faster and deeper into the tissue, providing a pronounced local therapeutic effect.

Composition and pharmaceutical form

Proposol is available in the form of a liquid solution packaged in aerosol cans. Bottles made of plastic or glass vary in volume: packages of 25 and 50 ml are sold. Cardboard boxes of the drug have special inserts with instructions and nozzles for spraying the drug.

The solution is a dark yellow liquid with a characteristic odor of bee products. Proposol contains an active substance - natural propolis. Components that complement its action:

  • ethyl alcohol - has an antiseptic effect, disinfects;
  • purified glycerin - softens and moisturizes the mucous membrane.

Ambassador

The domestic drug of plant origin, proposol, is a stimulator of tissue regeneration, used in dental practice for the local treatment of inflammatory diseases of the oral mucosa. Prosalting is based on the natural antiseptic propolis, a waste product of bees. This unique substance contains amino acids, phenolic acids, caffeic and cinnamic acids, terpenes and flavonoids. In laboratory experiments observed outside a living organism, propolis demonstrated antibacterial activity against gram-positive and, to a lesser extent, gram-negative microorganisms, as well as an antiviral effect, apparently associated with the presence of cinnamic acid derivatives in the composition of “bee glue”. In addition to this, the ability of propolis to inhibit the synthesis of pain and inflammation mediators prostaglandins has been established, which determines its anti-inflammatory effect. Proposol is produced in the form of a spray for topical use, placed in an aerosol can. The drug should be sprayed into the oral cavity during the inhalation phase. The duration of pressing the dosing valve is up to 2 seconds. Before using prosalting, perform the following manipulations: remove the safety cap from the aerosol can and attach a sprayer with a tip to the valve stem. Next, everything is simple: the tip is directed into the oropharynx and the sprayer is pressed several times (up to 3-4), evenly irrigating the mucous membranes. In the acute phase of the inflammatory process, spraying is carried out 2-3 times a day; as the inflammation decreases, the frequency of irrigation is reduced to 1-2 times until the symptoms of the disease are completely eliminated (this usually takes from 3 to 7 days). Proposol has virtually no undesirable side effects, with the exception of local burning and allergic reactions in persons with individual intolerance to bee products. It should be borne in mind that the drug contains 95% ethyl alcohol, and therefore during the period of pharmacotherapy it is necessary to refrain from activities that require attention and speed of reactions.

For lovers of dry numbers: the ethanol content in the maximum single dose of prosalting is 0.28 g in terms of absolute alcohol, in the maximum daily dose - 0.84 g. Before using prosalting, you should rinse your mouth with warm boiled water. After spraying the drug into the oropharynx, it is advisable not to eat for at least 15-30 minutes. The aerosol can with proposol must be protected from mechanical impact (impacts, falls), as well as from direct sunlight. Contact of the drug with the eyes is unacceptable. Proposol's over-the-counter status and its favorable safety profile make the drug available for self-medication.

Domestic scientists representing Volgograd State Medical University conducted a study of the effectiveness of proposol in patients with chronic recurrent aphthous stomatitis. The prevalence of this disease is steadily increasing, making it one of the most pressing problems in modern dentistry. The presence of erosive and ulcerative lesions of the oral mucosa is accompanied by persistent pain, interferes with adequate nutrition and significantly reduces the quality of life. During the study, proposol demonstrated its best performance: in patients with a mild form of the disease, already on the second day of pharmacotherapy, appetite improved and there was a decrease in the pain of ulcerations, swelling of the mucous membrane, and hyperemia. Epithelization of ulcers was observed on days 2-3 of treatment, and in case of moderately severe disease - on days 3-4. The positive dynamics of the healing process when using proposol made it possible to halve the recovery time of patients. Thus, proposol can be recommended as an effective means of complex therapy for chronic recurrent aphthous stomatitis.

When to use Proposol

The medication is recommended to be used:

  • with glossitis;
  • for tonsillitis, pharyngitis, laryngitis, uncomplicated sore throat;

Contraindications and side effects

Propolis is an extremely useful product. But allergies often occur to it, so before starting treatment you need to make sure there is no allergy. Honey intolerance also indicates the likelihood of a pathogenic reaction of the body to other beekeeping products. Its main signs are: swelling of the mucous membrane, severe itching, urticaria, lacrimation, conjunctivitis.

It is also necessary to avoid using the drug during pregnancy and lactation due to the presence of ethyl alcohol in it. Other contraindications:

  • presence of bleeding from the oral cavity;
  • deep ulcers of unknown origin;
  • neoplasms or herpetic eruptions on the mucous membranes.

Before starting treatment, it is necessary to find out the cause of the inflammation.

According to patient reviews, Proposol is well tolerated and does not cause rejection, as it has a pleasant natural aroma. In rare cases, its use causes short-term dry throat, nausea, sore throat, and a bitter taste in the mouth. If such symptoms disappear on their own after some time, they are not dangerous and do not require discontinuation of therapy.

Mechanism of action

Propolis has antibacterial, antiviral, regenerating, anti-inflammatory properties. The spectrum of its action is unusually wide:

  • it heals cracks, ulcers, shallow wounds;
  • blocks the proliferation of pathogenic microflora;
  • strengthens cellular immunity;
  • prevents the accumulation of exudate;
  • stimulates microcirculation in tissues;
  • promotes the resorption of edema;
  • eliminates irritation, redness and burning in the affected areas.

Propolis contains many useful phenols, amino acids, vitamins A, C, and other antioxidants. The substance acts comprehensively, protecting cells from microbes, free radicals and toxins. At the same time, the complex formula of the product does not allow viruses and bacteria to develop resistance. Pathogens die without having time to get used to propolis. At the same time, a natural antiseptic and antibiotic reduces pain, makes breathing and swallowing easier, restoring comfort.

Glycerin envelops the surface of the epithelium, forming a moist film, helps eliminate burning and itching, enhances the effect of propolis, and retains water in the tissues. Ethyl alcohol prevents secondary infections from occurring, disinfects damaged areas of the mucous membrane, and destroys the proteins of microbial membranes, blocking their spread. In combination with glycerin, ethanol does not have a drying effect, evaporating a few minutes after application. Proposol contains strong alcohol with a concentration of 96% - the strongest antiseptic in existence.

When used topically, Proposol is practically not absorbed into the bloodstream, causes almost no side effects, does not affect the tone of capillaries, and does not provoke the vascular network to become accustomed to the drug. On the contrary, vitamins and antioxidants of the drug promote tissue healing and reduce the likelihood of further relapses of inflammation. Aerosol application of the drug ensures uniform distribution of tiny droplets on the surface of the mucosa, eliminating possible irritation and overdose.

How to use Proposol: instructions

Before use, you need to screw the nozzle onto the bottle, shake it a little and do a test spray. After making sure that the aerosol works, inject the solution once or twice onto the affected area: into the throat or oral cavity. It is recommended to rinse the mucous membranes with warm water first. After applying the drug, you must refrain from eating and drinking liquids for 0.5–1 hour. The nozzle must be regularly washed to remove drug residues and dried away from heat sources.

It is recommended to repeat the procedure 1–4 times a day, depending on the severity of the condition. The duration of treatment with Proposol should not exceed 7 days.
