Tonsilgon belongs to the group of herbal preparations with complex effects. The medicine is produced in the form of drops. It is a clear, yellow-brown liquid with a chamomile aroma. Pharmacological properties are determined by the biologically active substances that make up the drug. Tonsilgon® N has anti-inflammatory and antiseptic effects. The active components of chamomile, marshmallow and horsetail included in the preparation help increase the activity of nonspecific body defense factors. Polysaccharides, essential oils and flavonoids of chamomile, marshmallow and yarrow, oak bark tannins have an anti-inflammatory effect and help reduce swelling of the mucous membrane of the respiratory tract.

The drug can be purchased for the prevention and treatment of acute respiratory viral infections in children and adults. The product reduces pain and soreness in the scalp, which improves your well-being. In addition, the product improves immunity, which speeds up the healing process.

The composition of the drug is represented exclusively by herbal components. This:

• Marshmallow roots. They have an enveloping, softening, expectorant and anti-inflammatory effect. The plant covers the mucous membranes with a thin layer and remains on their surfaces for a long time, which allows to stop inflammation and accelerate tissue regeneration
• Chamomile flowers. They are distinguished by anti-inflammatory, disinfectant, and analgesic properties. The antibacterial effect of the medicinal plant is important in the composition of the drug.
• Horsetail grass. A characteristic feature of the component is its targeted anti-inflammatory effect in diseases of the oral cavity. In addition, the medicinal plant relieves swelling and restores breathing.
• Walnut leaves. And they normalize immunity, reduce the severity of cold symptoms, lower body temperature and increase the effectiveness of treatment of ARVI. In addition, the component has a mild analgesic effect.
• Yarrow herb. It contains a large amount of vitamin C and P. Combinations of various biologically active substances provide bactericidal, healing and anti-inflammatory effects.
• Oak bark. The tannins contained in the component have a protective effect against external irritants. This allows for faster tissue healing.
• Dandelion grass. This medicinal plant has a rich vitamin and mineral composition. When used, it is possible to enhance the body's natural defense reactions.

Contraindications

hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, incl. plants of the Asteraceae family;

intolerance to lactose, fructose, deficiency of lactase, sucrase-isomaltase, glucose-galactose malabsorption (for pills);

children's age (for drops - up to 1 year, for pills - up to 6 years);

alcoholism, incl. after anti-alcohol treatment (for drops).

With caution (for drops): liver diseases, head injury, brain diseases, children over 1 year of age (use is possible only after consultation with a doctor due to the ethyl alcohol content in the drug).

Indications and contraindications

Tonsilgon drops, the instructions for use focus on this, are prescribed for the treatment of children and adults. It increases the effectiveness of acute and chronic ARVI therapy.

In addition, the medicine can be used as a prophylactic agent to reduce the risk of complications of diseases caused by viruses. The drug increases the effectiveness of antibacterial therapy for various diseases caused by pathogenic bacteria. It increases the body's resistance to infectious pathologies.

Tonsilgon has serious contraindications, so its use should be agreed with a doctor if indicated. It is prohibited to use the medicine if you are hypersensitive to any component in the composition. The drug is not prescribed for the treatment of children under one year of age.

Treatment with Tonsilgon drops is carried out with caution when liver dysfunction is confirmed in patients, as well as in cases of traumatic brain injury. The drug is not recommended for the treatment of people with alcohol dependence or after undergoing treatment aimed at getting rid of addiction.

Directions for use and doses

Inside.

Dragee. Swallow whole without chewing, wash down with water if necessary.

During the acute period of the disease: adults - 2 tablets 5-6 times a day; school-age children (over 6 years old) - 1 tablet 5-6 times a day.

After the acute symptoms of the disease (sore throat) disappear, treatment with the drug should be continued for another 1 week: adults - 2 tablets 3 times a day; school-age children (over 6 years old) - 1 tablet 3 times a day.

Drops. Take undiluted, keeping it in your mouth for a while before swallowing.

During the acute period of disease development: adults - 25 drops 5-6 times a day; school-age children (over 6 years old) - 15 drops 5-6 times a day; children of preschool age (over 1 year) - 10 drops 5-6 times a day.

Composition 100 g drops contain: 29 g liquid extract (1:38) from 2.6 g mixture of dandelion herb (Taraxaci herba), horsetail herb (Equiseti herba), marshmallow root (Althaeae radix), chamomile flowers (Matricariae flores), bark oak (Quercus cortex), walnut leaves (Juglandis folia), yarrow grass (Millefolii herba) (4:5:4:3:2:4:4). Extracting agent ethanol 59% vol. Auxiliary ingredient: purified water 71.0 g. Ethanol content: 19% (volume).

Description Transparent or cloudy liquid of yellow-brown color with a characteristic odor and taste of chamomile. During storage, sediment may form.

Contraindications Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, to plants of the Asteraceae family.

Warnings and precautions Not recommended for use in children under 1 year of age. This medicine contains 19% ethanol.

Interaction with other medicinal products There is currently no information on interaction with other medicinal products. With the simultaneous use of drugs containing oak bark, the absorption of alkaloids and other alkaline components may be reduced or blocked.

Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding The use of the drug Tonsilgon N is possible only after a thorough assessment of the risk/benefit ratio by the attending physician.

Method of administration and dosage During the acute period of disease development: Adults and adolescents over 12 years of age take 25 drops 5-6 times a day. Children aged 6 to 11 years take 15 drops 5-6 times a day. Children aged 1 to 5 years take 10 drops 5-6 times a day. After the severity of the disease has subsided, treatment with Tonsilgon N should be continued for another 1 week.

Children aged 1 to 5 years take 10 drops 3 times a day. The drops are taken undiluted, held in the mouth for a while before swallowing. Due to the good tolerance of the drug, long-term therapy may be recommended. When using the bottle, keep it upright. The bottle should be shaken before use.

Side effects In very rare cases, allergic reactions and disorders of the gastrointestinal tract (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea) are possible. With the simultaneous use of medicinal products containing chamomile flowers, hypersensitivity reactions may occur in persons with known hypersensitivity to plants of the Asteraceae family (eg, wormwood, yarrow, chrysanthemum, daisy) due to so-called cross-reactions. When the first signs of an allergic reaction appear, stop using Tonsilgon N drops.

Overdose No cases of overdose have been described. If the drug is used in doses exceeding therapeutic doses, symptomatic treatment is necessary.

Shelf life: 2 years. Opened bottles can be used for 6 months. Do not use after the expiration date stated on the package.

Storage conditions Store at a temperature not exceeding 25 C. Keep out of the reach of children.

The content of ethyl alcohol in the preparation (drops) ranges from 16 to 19.5% by volume. In the maximum single dose (25 drops), the content of absolute ethyl alcohol is 0.21 g; in the maximum daily dose (25 drops 6 times a day) - 1.26 g.

During storage of the drug in the form of drops, slight turbidity or slight precipitation may occur, which does not affect the effectiveness of the drug. The drug should be shaken before use! When using the bottle, hold it with the drip device facing down in a vertical position.
