Troxerutin: how to use ointment and gel correctly

Pharmacology

The medicine helps relax the smooth muscles of internal organs. After taking it, there is an improvement in the tone of the walls of blood vessels, they become less distensible, as a result of which blood stagnation disappears, the likelihood of edema decreases, and the severity of inflammatory processes decreases.

Capsules for oral administration are easily excreted from the stomach. The maximum concentration of the active element occurs 3-7 hours after administration. The second peak occurs approximately 28 hours later. The drug leaves the body completely within a day. Most of it is excreted by the liver, and a small part is excreted by the kidneys.

When the gel is applied locally, the constituent elements do not leak into the blood, but they still penetrate into the tissue adjacent to the skin.

About the drug Troxerutin Vramed

Troxerutin is used for varicose veins of the lower extremities

Varicose veins are a chronic disease caused by stretching of the veins and loss of elasticity by the vessels. This disease not only spoils the appearance of the legs, but also threatens the occurrence of blood clots, which means it threatens life. If nothing is done, the disease will completely invade the external veins of the legs and may spread to the internal vessels. The disease can develop from several years to decades, it all depends on the patient’s lifestyle. Smoking, excessive obesity, inactivity, people with this are at risk. Women get sick more often than men. To resist the disease, you need to at least know what and how to fight it.

Prevention and treatment of varicose veins

The veins in the legs have very weak walls; they hardly contract and therefore push blood weakly. The valves in the veins are supposed to prevent blood from flowing back, but they often become atrophied with age, especially if exposed to heavy exercise for a long time. Prevention is simple; it is necessary to reduce physical activity and, if possible, avoid wearing tight shoes. If you are at home, try lying down and holding your legs above your head. Do this regularly, it may help. You can squat with your arms outstretched, while lying on your back, do the “bicycle” exercise with your legs. Carefully monitor your feet; at the first manifestations of the disease, consult a phlebologist. If a doctor diagnoses you with a disease in the early stages, you can try treatment at home.

If treated with medications, ointments are suitable at the initial stage; they do not have much effect, but will help relieve pain and swelling. Troxerutin gel has become very widespread; it is anti-inflammatory and has anti-edematous effects.

If you treat varicose veins at home, leg exercises come first

The exercises are aimed at improving blood flow, but this is just an addition to the main treatment. The essence of the treatment is to strengthen the walls of blood vessels, because this is the only way to defeat varicose veins. It is the strengthening of the vascular wall that is the main goal of treatment. Treatment of illness at home also involves a number of additional measures:

  • Use of medications
  • Proper nutrition
  • Gymnastics for veins
  • Lifestyle change
  • Facilitation of physical activity

Varicose veins can also be treated with folk remedies . There are recipes that our grandfathers used. If you take the products constantly, you can remove the vascular network on your legs. Take 5 tablespoons of vinegar, add puree from 2 boiled carrots and pulp from 2 aloe leaves, rub the product into your feet every day, and after forty minutes, rinse with warm water. Traditional medicine is always very simple, it is very easy to prepare them from products that are available in any home.

Mix one tablespoon of pre-chopped garlic with two tablespoons of homemade butter. Before going to bed, apply ointment and bandage directly to the sore veins, and wash off with warm water in the morning. You need to treat for ten days, these procedures improve blood circulation. A very good recipe, using apple cider vinegar, you need to use it very carefully, but it is a very effective recipe. Apply a compress for forty minutes every day; the doctor will advise on the course of treatment. A very old recipe using leeches. To use leeches, you need to consult a doctor; leeches cannot be bought on the market, they must be sold in specialized stores. Take green tomatoes, cut in half and apply to varicose veins for 2-3 minutes. This should be done twice a day, course, ten days.

Home treatment has both positive and negative sides . The positive thing is that you are at home, all the drugs are very cheap and always at hand, the only bad thing is that if the disease is advanced, then traditional methods do not work. Legs will always be beautiful and healthy if, at the first signs of varicose veins, you start doing leg exercises and using folk recipes. And be sure to go to the doctor.

Indications

Varicose veins, chronic venous insufficiency, accompanied by swelling, pain, a feeling of heaviness in the legs, thrombophlebitis, periphlebitis, varicose dermatitis, pain and swelling after injuries (bruises, ligament damage).

Contraindications for use

Hypersensitivity to troxerutin;
violation of the integrity of the skin in the area of application. With caution
In patients with chronic renal failure (with long-term use).

pharmachologic effect

A drug for the treatment of chronic venous insufficiency, a semi-synthetic bioflavonoid (rutin derivative) of the benzopyran class, has P-vitamin activity, has a venotonic, angioprotective, anti-inflammatory and decongestant effect, reduces capillary permeability and fragility.

Its pharmacodynamic properties are associated with the participation of the bioflavonoids troxerutin in redox processes and inhibition of hyaluronidase. By inhibiting hyaluronidase, troxerutin stabilizes the hyaluronic acid of cell membranes and reduces their permeability. It has antioxidant activity, which prevents the oxidation of ascorbic acid, adrenaline and lipids. In addition, it reduces the permeability and fragility of capillaries, prevents damage to the basement membrane of endothelial cells when exposed to various factors. Troxerutin increases the density of the vascular wall, reduces the exudation of the liquid part of the plasma and the diapedesis of blood cells. Reduces exudative inflammation in the vascular wall, reducing platelet adhesion to its surface.

Reduces swelling and a feeling of heaviness in the legs, reduces the intensity of pain and cramps, improves tissue trophism.

Drug interactions

When used simultaneously, it enhances the effect of ascorbic acid on the resistance and permeability of the vascular wall.

Dosage regimen

Apply externally 3-4 times a day for no more than 10 days.

Side effect

For external use:

rarely - allergic reactions (urticaria, eczema, dermatitis).

special instructions

Avoid contact of the drug containing troxerutin with open wounds, eyes and mucous membranes.

Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding

Restrictions during pregnancy - With caution. Restrictions when breastfeeding - Contraindicated.

Use in the first trimester of pregnancy is contraindicated. The possibility of use in the second and third trimesters of pregnancy is determined by the doctor and is possible only if the expected benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus.

There are no data on the penetration of troxerutin into breast milk. Use during breastfeeding is contraindicated.

Use for renal impairment

Restrictions for impaired renal function - With caution.

In patients with chronic renal failure (with long-term use).

Use in elderly patients

Restrictions for elderly patients - No restrictions. The drug is approved for use in elderly patients.

Use in children

Restrictions for children - Contraindicated. The drug is contraindicated for use in children and adolescents under the age of 18 years.

How to take capsules correctly

The tablets must be taken with food. The capsule cannot be chewed or dissolved; it must be swallowed whole with water. The permissible dose is 1 tablet three times a day. If the drug is taken as an auxiliary medicine, then you need to take 2 tablets per day. The duration of the therapeutic course is 20-28 days. Only a doctor can extend the course of treatment.

Depending on the manufacturer of the drug, there may be minor differences in the instructions for use. Taking Troxerutin Zentiva capsules is similar to the regimen described above, while Troxerutin Vramed in the first days of therapy should be taken 1 capsule no more than 3 times a day, after which switch to maintenance therapy, taking 1 tablet per day.

Troxerutin-MIC involves administering the drug intramuscularly or intravenously. One injection will require 0.5 active substance. The procedure should be carried out every other day. The course must include at least 5 injections. After the injections, you can begin treatment with tablets.

Troxerutin and its properties

Troxerutin is a semisynthetic flavonoid . Flavonoids are a group of substances that give vegetables a certain color depending on the category. Traditionally, we get them from vegetables and herbs, but within the group there is a certain segmentation, and each of the groups has certain specific properties.

Semi-synthetic troxerutin is called because its basis is a plant source, but to obtain troxerutin a sequential chain of chemical reactions is necessary.

Troxerutin is the form of rutin, or vitamin P, most absorbed by our body, and is widely known for its venotonic, anti-inflammatory and decongestant effects. Like all flavonoids, troxerutin also has antioxidant properties, but they are not a priority for its widespread use in modern pharmacology.

In the prevention of vein diseases, troxerutin has the ability to stabilize the hyaluronic acid of cell membranes, thereby reducing the permeability and fragility of capillaries, increasing tone.

Regular use of products with troxerutin can increase the density of vascular walls and directly reduce inflammatory processes by “inhibiting” the adhesion of platelets to the walls themselves, which is one of the causes of varicose veins.

Troxerutin is also widely used for cosmetic purposes to protect lymphatic and blood vessels, ensuring their elasticity, permeability and flexibility.

This substance is also included in many products that are used in the treatment of erythrema or rosacea.

TROXERUTIN OR HEPARIN.

Often, when choosing a product to prevent varicose veins and improve the aesthetic appearance of the legs, the choice arises between products with troxerutin or heparin.

Their effects on the venous network and capillaries are somewhat similar - both ingredients improve the rheological properties of blood and have a thrombolytic effect even when used externally.

The choice of a particular product should be made after a face-to-face consultation with a specialist. However, in general practice, heparin-based ointments and creams are more often prescribed in the postoperative period after phlebectomy, and also as a prophylactic agent for thromboembolism.

Troxerutin is more widely used specifically for progressive varicose veins of the lower extremities, and also shows good effectiveness in the treatment of bruises and hematomas.

How to take Troxerutin gel

The drug in the form of a gel is intended for local application. It should be applied to the problem area 2 times a day (morning and evening). The ointment should be distributed in a thin layer over the entire damaged area, without affecting healthy skin. You need to rub the product in with smooth massaging movements until the gel is completely absorbed.

The permissible dose depends on the size of the problem skin, but should not be more than 2 g. When the ointment is applied, a bandage should be applied to the surface of the skin.

The drug in the form of an ointment, regardless of the manufacturer, has a similar treatment regimen.

Troxerutin

The flavonoid troxerutin is a venotonic and angioprotector used for circulatory disorders in the blood vessels of the venous bed. Being a derivative of rutin, the drug is endowed with P-vitamin activity. In addition to the already announced venotonic and angioprotective effects, troxerutin has an anti-inflammatory and anti-edematous effect; reduces the permeability of capillary walls and reduces their fragility. The pharmacodynamic characteristics of the drug are associated with its participation in redox reactions and also suppression of hyaluronidase activity. By inhibiting hyaluronidase, troxerutin has a stabilizing effect on hyaluronic acid in cell walls, resulting in a decrease in their permeability. The drug is a pronounced antioxidant that prevents the oxidation of lipids, ascorbic acid and adrenaline. Troxerutin prevents damage to the basement membrane of endothelial cells, protecting it from the effects of various adverse factors. The drug reduces exudative (serous) inflammation in the wall of the blood vessel, limiting the adhesion of platelets to its surface. With the use of troxerutin, swelling is relieved and tissue trophism is improved, and, which primarily attracts the average consumer, the feeling of heaviness in the legs goes away. The importance of prevention and treatment of diseases of the veins of the lower extremities is associated with the widespread and continuous increase in incidence. As ruthless statistics show, about 20% of the total population suffers from venous insufficiency, with women three times more likely than men. This disease is characterized by swelling, pain and trophic disorders of soft tissues. Most often, venous insufficiency occurs in people during the period of maximum working capacity, which occurs between the ages of 20 and 50 years. The reason for the chronicity of venous insufficiency is an untimely visit to the doctor, who is consulted, as a rule, after the appearance of cosmetic defects (the appearance of blue veins) and aggravation of the feeling of discomfort in the lower extremities (the notorious heaviness in the legs).

Characteristic symptoms of venous pathology are swelling of the legs and feet that intensifies in the evening, pain in the legs, a feeling of tingling and coldness in the lower extremities, a change in the color of the skin of the legs, and a persistent feeling of discomfort. All this, which naturally, worsens the patient’s quality of life. Chronic venous insufficiency underlies varicose veins, phlebitis, thrombophlebitis and periphlebitis. Troxerutin is able to prevent the development of chronic venous insufficiency and eliminate various pathological phenomena associated with it. The use of troxerutin is justified, first of all, in clinical cases that do not require constant medical supervision. The drug effectively eliminates swelling, relieves hematomas of various etiologies (bruises, dislocations, sprains). This is especially true for people with thinned walls of blood vessels, in whom hematomas form even from a slight blow. Troxerutin can be used both as a therapeutic and prophylactic agent. In the latter case, to obtain optimal results, the gel is combined with capsules - it is in these two dosage forms that the drug is produced. The gel base of troxerutin guarantees a rapid onset of therapeutic effect. The gel is usually applied twice a day: morning and evening. It should be rubbed in extremely carefully, because... inflamed veins react sensitively to any external influence. Apply the gel in a thin layer towards the body. By combining the gel with capsules, you can achieve a significant increase in the pharmacological effect: taking two 300 mg capsules with meals organically complements the local effect of the gel. In the presence of inflammation of deep-lying vessels, a capsulated form of troxerutin is indicated.

  • stomach ulcer;
  • children under 15 years of age;

Troxerutin: patient reviews

Hello dear readers. Today I want to tell you about a miraculously effective ointment, without which more than one girl and even men, once they find out, cannot do a single day. Surely you love walking in heels? Do you play sports? Do you spend the whole day on your feet? Are you taking care of the house/child and don’t have time to sit down? Or, on the contrary, do you have a sedentary job? Or, on the contrary, hard physical labor? And by the evening, of course, your legs hurt? I went through everything that I just listed. Previously (8 years ago) I played volleyball, basketball and badminton, in the evening I collapsed, my dad, seeing my torment, offered me this ointment. He used it as prescribed by a doctor; he had thrombophlebitis and sometimes had such pain that he even fainted, and this ointment was his salvation. Now I always have this ointment in my medicine cabinet and the whole family uses it. This release ointment. t several companies. I buy from Ozone (Russian company), Sopharma (Bulgaria) and Vramed.

The box is bright pink and always stands out in the medicine cabinet. The kit includes ointment and instructions for use; there are no special “grouts”.

Let's talk about the disadvantages right away. In our city, not every pharmacy has it, sometimes you have to stock up on it right away until 3-4 tubes are gone.

The tube of Troxerutin from all producing companies is aluminum, partly this is convenient, you can wrap it in a “roll”, but sometimes the tube breaks... Although I am not a chemist, but an ordinary buyer, perhaps there are some aggressive substances in there, which is why they have not changed their format. It is sold, like all ointments sealed with foil,

The lid is very difficult to open. Once you have opened the ointment, you can store it for no more than a month. For our family, this is an advantage, because my legs don’t hurt all the time, but only after exercise, and I don’t use it all the time. The consumption of Troxerutin is not high, because it is a gel and it dissolves on the skin. The other day there was an incident at the pharmacy when I asked for Troxerutin, the pharmacist began to tell me that this is just a component that almost can’t help with pain in the legs, but only Traxevasin will help me and I need to take ONLY Traxevasin. I was stunned when she told me the cost of this miracle of science - 245 rubles!! So that you understand, I will explain that Traxevasin and Troxirutin are both capillary stabilizing and anti-inflammatory, which will help relieve swelling, pain, or eliminate blood stagnation, thereby relieving the feeling of fatigue. In simple terms, this is an analogue of a more expensive product. So why would I buy the same ointment for 245 rubles if I can buy it for 40 rubles. 245:40=6.125, that is, I can buy 6 pieces of Troxerutin and it will last me for a long time, or I will buy one tube of Traxevasin. Tube volume 40 grams. The consistency of Troxerutin resembles a yellow gel, it is not greasy like many ointments and does not stain clothes.

It reminds me of cheap jellies in jars or honey)) This is how it looks on the hand.

It is absorbed in 1-1.5 minutes, it does not leave a smell on the skin, except that it gives a slight yellowish tint to the skin.

In the summer it is not visible due to the tan, and in the winter because of the tights, so for me this is not a minus).
I use it on average 2 times a day, I always rub it only with my hand, and in all these years I have never experienced any irritation or redness. I wash my hands or body twice with regular soap or gel, no traces remain. All my life I have suffered from hypothermia, as soon as I walk in rainy weather (even in summer) and my feet are in cool water, after an hour I cannot step on my foot and immediately cramp, it is this ointment that saves me from pain. As soon as you smear the foot, after about 10 minutes relief immediately occurs. In the fall, our renovation was in full swing and sometimes I had to lift heavy things, and naturally by the evening my back was cast iron, I couldn’t bend or sit down, it was painful to even breathe, then I remembered about this gel. I smeared a thick layer of medicine all over my back, waited until the ointment was completely dry, then I made an alcohol compress over my entire back and wrapped it in a woolen scarf. In the morning I forgot that my back could hurt. This recipe was recommended to my grandmother by a therapist, and I adopted it for myself) This drug has virtually no contraindications and can be used by pregnant and nursing mothers, so you can forget about pain in the back and legs during pregnancy. By the way, the increase in prices for this drug does not stand out too much; in 6 years it has risen in price by about 19 rubles. This time I bought it at the pharmacy and it cost 40 rubles, usually I buy it for 32 rubles. I believe that this drug should be in every first aid kit! It always helps with pain and swelling, relieves heaviness in the legs and the price is lower than other gels, so why not choose it!? Health to you and your loved ones! Thank you for your attention! And in order to control your blood pressure, I recommend that you read a review about a good and inexpensive blood pressure monitor! rowena2
