Inflammatory processes of the urethra are often accompanied by damage to the paraurethral ducts.
The use of medicinal solutions and powders in direct contact with the skin or with the help of fixing bandages is ineffective due to the short duration of action, requiring their constant application to the skin of the penis or to the bandage, which, like ointments and creams with antibacterial drugs, creates a “greenhouse effect”. Based on the above, the use of Hexicon gel for the treatment of patients with paraurethritis is of interest. We observed 20 men with inflammation of the paraurethral ducts aged 18-40 years. The duration of the disease ranged from 2 weeks to 6 months. Previously, the patients were examined, treated and followed-up by dermatovenerologists for specific and nonspecific urethritis. In response to complaints about redness, swelling, hardness and discomfort around the opening of the urethra, doctors prescribed baths with antiseptics, ointments containing antibiotics, and Clotrimazole cream, which showed a short-term positive effect. For 20 days, all patients, in the morning and evening, after toileting the external genitalia, applied Hexicon gel produced by Nizhpharm OJSC (0.5 g chlorhexidine bigluconate and excipients; is an antiseptic drug active against gram-positive gram-negative bacteria, protozoa, viruses). After 7 days from the start of treatment, 16 (80%) patients showed a significant decrease in hyperemia, edema, infiltration and discomfort. Clinical recovery occurred in 12 (60%) patients 20 days after the start of treatment, and 3 (15%) showed significant improvement after 40 days. In 5 (25%) patients, no improvement was observed 40 days and then 60 days after the start of therapy. All patients tolerated the treatment well, there were no adverse reactions or undesirable effects. No effect of therapy on peripheral blood and urine parameters was noted. The results we presented indicate the high therapeutic effectiveness of treating patients with paraurethritis using the Hexicon gel.
