An anthelmintic drug that causes neuromuscular blockade and spastic paralysis of the muscles of helminths. Subsequently, helminths are eliminated from the body along with feces by peristaltic movements of the intestines. Effective against mature and immature helminths of both sexes: pinworms , roundworms , hookworms . The drug does not have a stimulating effect on parasites, and therefore does not provoke their migration. Does not affect migrating larvae.

In the intestinal lumen it is effective against mature and immature sensitive helminths of both sexes. Highly effective against infestations caused by pinworms (Enterobius vermicularis), roundworms (Ascaris lumbricoides), hookworms (Ankylostoma duodenale and Necator americanus).

Use during pregnancy and lactation
The drug is prescribed with caution during pregnancy if the expected benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus. There is no data on the penetration of the drug into breast milk, therefore, if it is necessary to prescribe the drug during lactation, breastfeeding should be stopped.

For oral administration. The suspension is intended for children weighing more than 12 kg. Shake the suspension before use. 1 ml of suspension contains 50 mg of pyrantel, 1 measuring spoon - 2.5 ml contains 125 mg of pyrantel. Helmintox can be taken at any time of the day, without first taking laxatives, not necessarily on an empty stomach. Pinworms and roundworms: When treating enterobiasis and ascariasis, the drug is prescribed once at the recommended dose. The usual dosage is 12.5 mg/kg body weight once, that is: - children under 6 years of age: 1 scoop of suspension per 10 kg body weight once; - children over 6 years old: 1 scoop of suspension per 10 kg of weight once; - adults weighing less than 75 kg: 6 scoops once; - adults weighing more than 75 kg: 8 scoops of suspension once. To prevent re-infection, it is recommended to repeat the drug after 3 weeks. Hookworm: In endemic areas, in case of infection with Necator americanus or in case of severe infection with Ankylostoma duodenale, the dosage is 25 mg/kg/day (in one or two doses) for two to three days, that is: - children: 250 mg per 10 kg of weight daily - adults weighing less than 75 kg: 1.5 g per day - adults weighing more than 75 kg: 2 g per day. In case of infection with Ankylostoma duodenale outside endemic zones (it occurs more easily), a dose of 12.5 mg/kg is prescribed at a time.
Side effect
From the gastrointestinal tract: nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea and loss of appetite are rarely observed (most often these symptoms are explained by the death of helminths); Allergic reactions – itching, urticaria, exanthema; Slight short-term increase in the activity of “liver” transaminases; Headache, dizziness, feeling tired, drowsiness or insomnia, hearing impairment, hallucinations, confusion, paresthesia, hyperthermia. If any of the side effects indicated in the instructions get worse, or you notice any other side effects not listed in the instructions, tell your doctor.
Overdose
Even a severe overdose does not cause signs of serious intoxication. There is no specific antidote. It is recommended to rinse the stomach and consult a doctor.
Interaction with other drugs
The simultaneous use of levamisole and piperazine is not recommended. Increases the concentration of theophylline in plasma.
Precautionary measures
No special preparation or diet is required when prescribing Helmintox. If you have existing liver diseases, you must notify your doctor. It should be remembered that before prescribing Helmintox, like any other anthelmintic drug, you should thoroughly clean the room, wash children's toys, take a shower before and after bedtime, and change your underwear. For enterobiasis and ascariasis, children are prescribed 1 measuring spoon per 10 kg of weight once. During deworming , the room is thoroughly cleaned, all children's toys are washed, underwear is changed daily, and bed linen is ironed daily. Treatment is provided to all family members.
