General description:
Daflon 500 mg Daflon 500 mg for varicose veins and hemorrhoids, 60 pcs, France is a drug that acts on the cardiovascular system: it is both a venotonic (which means that it improves and maintains blood circulation in the veins) and a vasculoprotector (which means that it increases the resistance of blood vessels).
Daflon belongs to the flavonoid family (also called “bioflavonoids”): these plant substances have antioxidant and cardiovascular protective effects. Daflon tablet contains two flavonoids in particular: hesperidin (naturally found in citrus peels) and diosmin (also extracted from citrus fruits).
Daflon 500 instructions for use
Indications for use
The drug is an effective venoprotective agent, therefore it is indicated for the following health problems:
- Varicose veins (including with trophic ulcers).
- Chronic venous insufficiency.
- Hemorrhoids (chronic, acute).
- Inflammation of hemorrhoids.
- Edema caused by disturbances in the functioning of the cardiovascular system.
- Heaviness in the legs, tired legs, cramps.
- Lymphedema.
Note! The product is excellent for hemorrhoids. After just a few days, the veins around the anus, as well as hemorrhoidal cones and nodes, become smaller and the bleeding stops.
The product is well suited for the prevention of varicose veins and hemorrhoids. Therefore, it is strongly recommended for people who do sedentary work or those who have to stand for long periods of time.
pharmachologic effect
When released into the blood, the flavonoid hesperidin and diosmin reduce the viscosity of leukocytes, so they stop sticking to the walls of veins and capillaries. This, in turn, prevents blood from entering the paravenous tissue and thereby stopping the development of varicose veins or hemorrhoids. Treatment with this drug helps reduce swelling, relieve pain, normalize metabolic processes in the affected areas and obtain a lasting good cosmetic effect. The active ingredients reach their maximum concentration approximately 15 minutes after taking the drug, after which they circulate through the bloodstream for approximately 12 hours. They are eliminated from the body within a day during defecation.
How to take, course of administration and dosage
The tablets are taken at lunchtime and in the evening, with meals. The daily dose recommended by the manufacturer is 4 tablets (2 for each dose). The duration of treatment should be discussed with a specialist, but on average one package is designed for a course.
When treating hemorrhoids, to achieve the best effect, it is recommended to combine taking pills with the use of special creams - anesthetic and anti-inflammatory.
Contraindications
Tablets should not be taken by people with individual intolerance to any of the components included in their composition. Pregnant and breastfeeding women are also advised to avoid such treatment. Exceptions include cases where the risk to the woman's health is greater than that to the fetus or child. The drug should not be given to children.
Side effects
In rare cases, taking the medication may cause an allergic reaction in the form of skin itching or rash. In case of overdose or individual intolerance, the following may also begin:
- problems with the gastrointestinal tract (diarrhea, stomach or intestinal pain, colitis);
- headache;
- dizziness, nausea, vomiting;
- general weakness, state of discomfort.
In any of the above cases, stop treatment and consult a doctor.
Storage conditions
The medicine is kept in a dry place, protected from sunlight, at a temperature not exceeding +30 degrees. Keep away from children!
Additionally:
- This medication is not sufficient to prevent the risk of phlebitis in bedridden or casted patients.
- Treatment of venous insufficiency is based on special measures such as wearing compression stockings.
- Pain and anal bleeding that continues despite treatment may be caused by a disease other than hemorrhoids and require consultation with a doctor. Likewise, any anal bleeding that occurs in a person over 50 years of age should be the subject of medical advice.

Daflon is a venotonic and venoprotective agent. The active substance of Daflon is diosmine, according to its chemical structure it belongs to the group of natural biologically active compounds with a flavone structure (rhamnoglucoside) close to hesperedin (substituted with a carbohydrate radical). Hesperidin, which is included in Daflon as an excipient, is a flavone compound similar in structure and action to rutin and quercetin. The mechanism of action of diosmin is not fully understood. It appears to be associated with inhibition of catecholamine degradation, mainly through inhibition of catecholamine O-methyltransferase. Four levels of action of diosmin can be distinguished: a) effect on permeability: reduces the permeability and fragility of capillaries (increased under the influence of histamine, bradykinin and unbalanced nutrition); b) effect on hemorheological properties of red blood cells: increases the ability of red blood cells to deform and reduces blood viscosity; c) effect on the tone of the veins: stimulates constant and spontaneous contraction of the smooth muscles of the venous wall; d) effect on lymph circulation: to some extent, diosmin causes dilation of lymphatic vessels and increases the speed of lymph flow, thus improving lymph flow. Both compounds included in the drug Daflon have angioprotective activity and relieve symptoms of chronic (peripheral) venous insufficiency (pain, feeling of heaviness, swelling). Daflon has a pronounced effect on the manifestations of venous stasis caused by varicose dilation of the vessels of the lower extremities. Reduces the adhesion of leukocytes to the venous wall and their migration into paravenous tissue, improves oxygen diffusion and perfusion in the skin tissue. Stabilizes lysosomal cell membranes, inhibits the release of autolytic cellular enzymes that break down proteoglycans, reduces pathologically increased permeability and fragility of capillaries, prevents transcapillary filtration of low molecular weight proteins, electrolytes and water into the intercellular space, prevents venous stagnation and thrombosis (especially in the lower extremities), increases venous tone , reduces peripheral edema, feeling of heaviness, fatigue, tension and pain in the legs. Pharmacokinetics. When taken orally, it is quickly adsorbed in the gastrointestinal tract. After a single oral dose of Daflon in healthy volunteers, it was noted that the curve of drug concentration in blood plasma versus time was biphasic. The initial peak concentration of the drug in the blood plasma after use is observed after 15 minutes, after which the concentration begins to slowly decrease; 4 hours after use, a new increase in level is observed, reaching equilibrium concentration 5–8 hours after use of the drug, after which the levels decrease and are practically not detected 24 hours after use. Within 48 hours, 90% of the dose of diosmin taken is eliminated. It accumulates in the saphenous veins of the lower extremities, to a lesser extent in the tissues of the kidneys, liver and lungs; in other tissues of the body it is determined in small quantities. Selective accumulation of diosmin in the area of venous vessels reaches a maximum 9 hours after administration and lasts for the next 96 hours. The main excretion of the drug occurs in feces. On average, about 14% of the administered amount of the drug is excreted in the urine. The half-life is 11 hours. The drug undergoes active metabolism, which is confirmed by the presence of phenolic acids in the urine.
Indications for use: Indications for the use of the drug Daflon are: - Chronic insufficiency of the veins and lymphatic vessels of the lower extremities of an organic and functional nature, which manifests itself in the form of swelling, pain, heaviness in the legs, night cramps, trophic ulcers, lymphedema). — Acute and chronic hemorrhoids for oral use (prescribed for adults).
Directions for use: For chronic insufficiency of veins and lymphatic vessels (swelling, pain, heaviness in the legs, night cramps, trophic ulcers, lymphedema, etc.) and to prevent relapses in chronic hemorrhoids, take 1 Daflon tablet - 2 times a day (in the morning and in the evening) during meals. After a week of use, you can take 2 tablets per day once with meals. The duration of treatment depends on the indications for use and the course of the disease. The average duration of treatment is 2–3 months. For exacerbation of hemorrhoids, 6 Daflon tablets are prescribed per day for the first 4 days, then 4 tablets per day for the next 3 days. Treatment is carried out in a short course. If symptoms do not disappear after a short course of therapy, a proctological examination should be performed and the therapy should be reconsidered. In case of exacerbation of hemorrhoids, the use of Daflon does not replace specific treatment.
Side effects: From the gastrointestinal tract: in isolated cases - diarrhea, dyspepsia, nausea, vomiting. From the side of the central nervous system: in isolated cases - neurovegetative disorders (dizziness, headache, general malaise). drug therapy is usually well tolerated. The most common adverse reactions: - from the gastrointestinal tract: pain in the epigastric region, nausea; - on the skin: cracks, itching; - from the central nervous system: weakness, headache.
Contraindications: Contraindications to the use of the drug Daflon are: individual hypersensitivity to any of the components of the drug, the period of breastfeeding.
Pregnancy: There are no clinical studies of the use of Daflon during pregnancy. During preclinical studies, no direct or indirect negative effects on the course of pregnancy or fetal development were identified. The use of the drug during pregnancy is possible only if the expected benefit to the mother outweighs the possible risk to the fetus. There is no data on the penetration of the drug into breast milk, so it is not recommended for use during breastfeeding.
Interaction with other drugs: Clinically significant effects of interaction between Daflon and other drugs have not been described.
