Saridon instructions for use
Description Paracetamol 250 mg Propyphenazone 150 mg Caffeine 50 mg Other ingredients: microcrystalline cellulose, methylhydroxypropylcellulose, formaldehyde casein, corn starch, talc, magnesium stearate, colloidal anhydrous silicon dioxide.Pharmacological action Saridon contains caffeine, paracetamol and propyphenazone, which have analgesic and antipyretic properties. In experimental studies determining acute toxicity, it was found that when taking paracetamol in combination with propyphenazone in a ratio of 5:3, it is lower than when using each component separately. The analgesic effect after taking the drug develops within 30 minutes and lasts for several hours. Indications Symptomatic treatment for headache, dental, menstrual, postoperative and rheumatic pain; fever due to colds and flu.
Dosage regimen Single dose: for adults - 1-2 tablets; for children aged 12–16 years - 1 tablet. The frequency of administration is no more than 3 times a day. The tablets should be taken with a sufficient amount of liquid. The duration of treatment should not exceed 1 week.
Side effects Very rarely - allergic skin reactions (erythema, itching, urticaria, angioedema), shortness of breath, bronchospasm, in isolated cases - anaphylactic shock. Thrombocytopenia, leukopenia, agranulocytosis and pancytopenia are possible.
Contraindications Hypersensitivity to pyrazolone derivatives or related compounds (phenazone, propyphenazone, aminophenazone, metamizole), phenylbutazone, paracetamol, acetylsalicylic acid or caffeine, congenital deficiency of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (hemolytic anemia), acute hepatic porphyria, age under 12 years.
Pregnancy and lactation It is not recommended to use Saridon during pregnancy, especially in the first trimester and during the last 6 weeks (the latter due to the possibility of inhibition of prostaglandin biosynthesis with subsequent disruption of labor). Since the active components of the drug are found in breast milk and due to the immaturity of the enzyme system of infants, Saridon is not recommended for use during breastfeeding.
Overdose Symptoms of intoxication in case of overdose due to the content of paracetamol in the drug usually appear within 24–48 hours, but can be delayed for some time. Poisoning is more likely due to alcohol consumption. Damage to the liver (hepatocellular necrosis) and disruption of its function can lead to the development of coma. Clinical manifestations of hepatotoxicity may appear 2–4 days after an overdose. Gastric lavage is advisable if it can be performed within 6 hours after the expected overdose. The severity of toxic effects can be reduced by intravenous administration of sulfidryl compounds, such as cystamine or acetylcysteine, within 8 hours after overdose. There are isolated reports of the development of acute renal failure after an overdose of the drug due to the content of paracetamol in the composition.
Special instructions The patient should be informed that the drug cannot be used regularly for a long time without a doctor's prescription. Long-term use of paracetamol in high cumulative doses in some cases can lead to the development of drug-induced nephropathy or irreversible renal failure. Long-term use of analgesics for headaches can lead to chronic headaches. The drug is used with extreme caution in patients with asthma, chronic rhinitis or chronic urticaria, especially if there is a history of hypersensitivity to other anti-inflammatory drugs. There are isolated reports of the development of attacks of asthma and anaphylactic shock due to individual sensitivity to propyphenazone and paracetamol. Particular caution (reducing the dose and dividing the daily dose into a larger number of doses) is necessary in the following cases: with impaired liver function (in the case of chronic alcohol abuse or the presence of hepatitis); renal dysfunction; Gilbert's syndrome (changes from benign secondary jaundice to glucuronyl transferase deficiency); hematopoiesis disorders.
Drug interactions When taking Saridon, it is necessary to limit alcohol consumption.
When using drugs that are inducers of microsomal liver enzymes (some hypnotics, anticonvulsants/phenobarbital, phenytoin, carbamazepine/, rifampicin, the hepatotoxicity of paracetamol, even when used in therapeutic doses, may increase. A similar effect is caused by simultaneous intake of alcohol. Drugs that slow down gastric motility ( for example, propantheline) can reduce the rate of absorption of paracetamol and slow the onset of action. Drugs that increase gastric motility (for example, metoclopropamide) can increase the rate of absorption. Combination with chloramphenicol can slow down the elimination of the latter and increase the risk of toxic reactions. Clinical compatibility of paracetamol and warfarin or coumarin derivatives is not currently known. Regular use of paracetamol for a long period in patients who have previously used indirect anticoagulants should only be carried out under medical supervision. The incidence of neutropenia is higher with the simultaneous use of paracetamol and zidovudine. Caffeine has an antagonistic effect on drugs that have a sedative effect (barbiturates, some antihistamines), and increases the severity of tachycardia caused by sympathomimetics and thyroxine. Oral contraceptives, dimethidine and disulfiram reduce caffeine metabolism, and smoking increases it. The drug slows down the elimination of theophylline. Due to the caffeine content in the drug, the effect of substances like ephedrine is enhanced. Concomitant use of certain DNA gyrase inhibitors may prolong the elimination of caffeine and its metabolite paraxanthine. Storage conditions and periods

SARIDON (tablets)
Well, I used this drug specifically for headaches, the effect was incredible, so I hasten to share this find with you, dear friends and readers.
All my life I have used ketane as a pain reliever, but a couple of years ago it was banned from being sold without a prescription, recognizing it as either a narcotic drug or something else, but the point is that for a long time I had to endure hellish pain, or use horse doses of other drugs, because I could not find an equivalent replacement for ketanov.
When compiling a list of purchases that I planned to purchase in India, reading reviews of various drugs, I also added Saridon tablets to my list, in general, based only on the information that it is a pain reliever, without going into details.
Not long ago I read a review on the Otzovik website, where a person talked about how he had chosen an increased cashback on pharmaceutical drugs and suddenly had to become a frequent customer of pharmacies. I have almost the same story. I bought 2 packages of these tablets in Goa from the Indian manufacturer Piramal Enterpises Limited, whose production is located in Maharashtra, which produces this drug under license from the Swiss company Bayer Consumer Care AG. And before I had time to return to my homeland, the pain immediately began. This is probably so that the purchased drugs do not lie idle ((
Either because of fatigue from a long flight, or because of a sharp change in climatic conditions, just as soon as the plane landed at the airport I felt a severe headache, which I had already forgotten about during my several weeks in India.
Deciding that the pain would go away after a full night’s sleep (I really didn’t want to take pills), I fell asleep and woke up again with a headache, only now ten times stronger than the day before. After suffering for another hour and realizing that the pain was becoming unbearable, I took out Saridon tablets and finally decided to get acquainted with reviews about the effectiveness of this drug.
Imagine my disappointment when most of the reviews were negative and it was repeatedly mentioned that one tablet did not work. Will I really have to poison myself again with massive doses, I thought, and I began to study the packaging in the form of a blister, which contains 10, as it later turned out, quite large tablets
On the back of the blister there is all the necessary information, except, perhaps, contraindications in full, but they are still partially present. At the same time, I was struck by the fact that having found instructions on the Internet, I discovered that the information given in the instructions did not correspond to the information indicated on the blister. Thus, the manufacturer indicates that the drug should not be used by pregnant women and during lactation, as well as by children or adults undergoing treatment. While the instructions from the Internet indicate that use during pregnancy and breastfeeding is only undesirable. So there is only one conclusion - you need to carefully read the information on the packaging of the drug from a specific manufacturer. In addition, this drug should not be used with other drugs containing paracetamol or if you are allergic to any of the ingredients of the drug. And there are only three of them (ingredients). This is propyphenazone, which is an analgesic and antipyretic and has analgesic and antipyretic properties; paracetamol, which is similar in its properties to propyphenazone, but also has a weak anti-inflammatory effect; and the third component is caffeine.
The dosage is also indicated on the blister. The manufacturer suggests taking 1 tablet every 3-4 hours, but does not recommend taking more than 3 tablets per day. It was this dosage that bothered me after reading it. I compared this information with reviews that said that only the maximum dose per day relieves pain.
Storage instructions are also indicated on the packaging. Like all medications, Saridon is recommended to be stored in a cool, dry and dark place, away from children.
The manufacturer recommends Saridon as painkillers.
A little upset by what I read in the reviews, I prepared to suffer further after taking one pill. The tablet has a round shape, an engraving on one side and a dividing strip on the other. The negative reviews did their job and, without thinking, I tried to swallow the whole pill at once. It turned out to be not so easy to do this, since the tablet is really very large and since I was not able to swallow it right away, I managed to feel all the taste delights of Saridon tablets. It turned out to be not tasty))
But all this turned out to be a mere trifle compared to the fact that after 10 minutes I felt significant pain relief, and after another 10 minutes (that is, a total of 20 minutes after taking it) the pain was completely gone! I didn't even hope for this. So I draw another conclusion and it is this: Perhaps a drug with the same name, but from different manufacturers, has different healing properties. After all, there is no other way to explain that the same drug works so effectively in some people, but is equally ineffective in others. And considering that there are countless dummy medications in Russian pharmacies...
I must say that the pain did not go away so quickly for me even from ketanov. So I confidently recommend Saridon tablets exclusively from the Indian manufacturer Piramal Enterpises Limited for quick relief from unbearable headaches.
As I use these tablets for other types of pain, this review will be updated. I really hope that in three years (this is exactly the shelf life of these tablets), I will not have time to use both purchased blisters.
I wish everyone health and joy!
